Following the recent revelations and other developments, police in Sydney, Australia are now saying that Mel Greig and Michael Christian – the two DJs whose prank call resulted in the suicide of nurse Jacintha Saldanha earlier this month – are highly unlikely to face any charges.
According to their spokesman Nick Kaldas, the police in UK have not made any contact with them for information or requests to interview the DJs ever since the nurse’s death, and so it is safe to assume that they will not be prosecuted as was earlier thought.
But the main factor that will spare the DJs from court dates is the revelation that Jacintha had tried to kill herself twice before the incident at the King Edward VII hospital, where Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton was admitted for acute morning sickness.
The Djs have since apologized for the deadly stunt, and have been taken off air indefinitely.
