Rapper Lupe Fiasco turned the Obama Inauguration party into a party of putting the President on blast for more than 30 minutes! In fact, he continued blasting Obama until he was booted from the stage by security personnel.
Lupe Fiasco headlined last night’s StartUp RockOn Inauguration Celebration at the Hamilton Live theater in Washington DC. While on stage, he performed his song Words I Never Said, where he repeated the following verse over and over again:
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shit / That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either…
He continued rapping this verse for over 30 minutes, refusing to switch to another song, and refusing to stop. So the security guys had to escort him off the stage.
The organizers have released a statement:
Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant.’ We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.
