Call it a dumb protest or support for ‘gay rights,’ but Carly Rae Jepsen has pulled out of a very huge concert for the Boys Scout of America because the organization does not support gay rights.
The Call Me, Maybe one-hit wonder had been booked to perform at the National Scout Jamboree in Mount Hope, West Virginia in July, along with the band Train. But she and Train pulled out, because they openly oppose gay rights and have banned openly gay scouts and leaders.
Writing on her Twitter page, she said, ‘As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer…I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level.’
Continuing, she wrote ‘…and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe.’
Train has however, stated they would gladly rejoin the show IF and ONLY IF the Boy Scouts reverse their anti-gay policy.
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
