Two explosives went off at the finish line of Boston Marathon this afternoon, killing 2 and injuring about 23 people.
The explosives, now identified as bombs, went off while the runners are still on the track. This caused pandemonium, as terrified spectators fled for their lives, screaming in terror.
Officials say another undetonated bomb was found at the finish line and was quickly secured. Five hospitals have reported the number of the injured as 95, including five children. New York Post claims that the number of the dead has risen to 12.
President Obama has released a statement from the White House: ‘We still do not know who did this or why, and people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts, but make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this.
‘Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.’
According to Fox News, a suspect has been arrested after security footage showed a man carrying back packs into the area 20 minutes before the blast. The suspect is currently being guarded at a hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. New York Post reports that the suspect is a 20-year old Saudi national.
The official casualty count: 3 dead, over 150 injured. Cops say there are no official suspects. Most of the injured lost their legs or ankles to the blast. Two bombs were found by cops and secured at the scene, not one.
