Veteran American Idol judge Randy Jackson has confirmed that he is quitting the show at the end of this season.
‘Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,’ he said in a statement.
‘I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry,’ he continued, adding, ‘It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.’
Randy Jackson is the last remaining original American Idol judge, and rumors have it that the show’s producers plan to clean house after this season and replace Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban. This is probably due to the show’s poor ratings lately, dropping to its lowest this season.
