Enraged mourners in a village in Bolivia seized a suspected sex murderer and buried him alive along with his victim in the same grave.
According to reports, 17-year old Santos Ramos was at the funeral of the woman he was accused of raping and killing. Police had earlier identified him as the possible culprit in the attack, which happened in a Quechua community in Colquechaca municipality.
According to prosecutor Jose Louis Barrios, the angry mourners, around 200 in number, blocked the entrance to the community, preventing the police from coming in to save Ramos. Then they tied him up and dragged him to the burial spot of the victim (identified as 35-year-old Leandra Arias Janco), where they threw him into the empty grave alongside the victim’s coffin and filled the grave up with earth.
Lynching is rare in Bolivia, but days before this unfortunate incident, one suspect accused of robbing a car and killing its driver was stoned to death while his alleged accomplice was burned alive.
