Lil’ Wayne is trying to defend his controversial stunt on a music video shoot in New Orleans where he trampled on the American flag, claiming that he did not do it on purpose.
The rapper took to Twitter to address the growing storm today, tweeting, ‘I didn’t step on the flag on purpose! It’s a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it’s just there as I perform.’
But if you watch the video below, you can easily deduce that Wayne is probably lying through his teeth, ‘cos when the flag went down, he continued rapping while stepping on it, looking down SEVERAL TIMES.
Or is he trying to tell us that the dark glasses he was wearing blocked his vision? Oh wait … he wasn’t wearing any either.
But Wayne wasn’t done with defending himself, so he went to Facebook and continued his explanation.
‘It was never my intention to desecrate the flag of the United States of America,’ he wrote. ‘I was shooting a video for a song off my album entitled “God Bless Amerika”. The clip that surfaced on the Internet was a camera trick clip that revealed that behind the American Flag was the Hoods of America.’
”In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground,’ he added.
Here is the video in case you’ve not seen it.
