Celebrity chef Paula Deen has been axed by Food Network over her use of the N-word.
The network announced in a statement on Friday that Deen’s contract will not be renewed once it expires. ‘Food Network will not renew Paula Deen’s contract when it expires at the end of this month,’ the statement read.
Earlier today, Deen released two videos apologizing for her lip-slip. The first video was labelled as ‘half-hearted’ and ‘insincere’ mainly because it was edited. It was later taken down by the official Paula Deen YouTube channel.

The second video appeared several hours later, shortly before it was announced that she had been axed. Aside apologizing for her use of ‘inappropriate, hurtful language’, she also apologized to Matt Lauer and The TODAY Show for bailing on the show at the last minute.
Paula had revealed in a deposition for a civil lawsuit that she had used the N-word several years ago and had continued using it for a peiod of time. She insists that she’s not racist.
