Paula Deen’s has been dropped by three more companies Target, Home Depot and diabetes drug company Novo Nordisk over her use of the n-word 30 years ago.
Target released a statement on Thursday, saying, ‘We have made a decision to phase out the Paula Deen merchandise in our stores as well as on Target.com. Once the merchandise is sold out, we will not be replenishing inventory.’
Home Depot released a similar statement, saying that it will no longer feature cookware with the Deen brand on its kitchen and cookware departments.
And as for Novo Nordisk, it insists that both parted ways after reaching a ‘mutual’ agreement. ‘Novo Nordisk and Paula Deen have mutually agreed to suspend our patient education activities for now, while she takes time to focus her attention where it is needed,’ the statement announced. ‘Novo Nordisk would like to acknowledge Paula’s involvement in our Diabetes in a New Light™ campaign, where she has helped make many people aware of type 2 diabetes and the lifestyle changes needed to control this serious disease.’
The n-word scandal – which we must admit has been blown over proportion by the media – has already cost her high profile partnerships with Food Network, Cesars Entertainment, Smithfield and Walmart.
