The ridiculous Paula Deen dropping fever over the n-word controversy has caught her book publisher Ballantine Books, JcPenny, Kmart, Sears and Walgreens, who have all announced that they are severing ties with the embattled celebrity chef.
Sears Holdings, the company behind Sears and Kmart – announced today in a statement that they are ‘phasing out’ Deen’s brand from their stores and all other products linked to her in the wake of the scandal.
Sears Holdings however added, ‘We will continue to evaluate the situation. Our members’ needs will be given first priority as we work to continue to provide quality cookware in our stores and online.’
Walgreens released a similar statement, saying that it is ‘phasing out’ her products.
And as for JcPenney, ‘We can confirm that jcpenney (sic) has decided to discontinue selling Paula Deen branded merchandise.’
And finally, publisher Ballantine Books just announced that it has cancelled the release of her expected bestseller ‘Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up’, even though the book is already #1 on Amazon with pre-order sales.
These companies have joined the long list of others dumping the star because of her use of the n-word 30 years ago. Food Network, QVC, Cesars Entertainment, Walmart, Home Depot, Novo Nordisk and Target have all dropped her.
