Ex- WWE superstar Doink the Clown died of accidental drug overdose, according to an autopsy report released by officials in Collin County, Texas.
According to the report, Doink – real name Matt Osborne – died of a toxic overdose of morphine and hydrocodone – the latter a major ingredient of the painkiller Vicodin.
In the report, the medical official notes, ‘I am of the opinion that [Osborne], a 55-year old white man, died as a result of toxic effects of opiates,’ stating that ‘high levels of the opiates morphine and hydrocodone’ were found in his body at the time of his death.
Besides, the examiner notes, Osbourne was suffering from a heart disease, which was a ‘significant and contributory factor’ to his death.
As we previously reported, Doink the Clown was found dead by his girlfriend in her apartment on June 28. Prior to the autopsy report, police had launched a homicide investigation.
