A judge has granted the petition by doctors to extend Amanda Bynes’ 5150 psychiatric hold for two weeks.
In the hearing which took place on Thursday evening at the hospital where she is confined, the doctors argued that they need to properly diagnose Amanda before she can be released, stressing that she could pose a danger to herself and others if she gets released at the expiration of the involuntary hold in a few hours.
Amanda’s lawyer was even at the hearing to oppose the extension, but the judge did not buy his argument and so granted the request of the doctors.
Amanda would have been released in a matter of hours had it been that the extension were not granted.
As ENTmania! previously reported, Amanda Bynes’ parents have officially filed for temporary conservatorship of their daughter, and the hearing will commence today at 8:30 am PT.
