The Church of Scientology is spitting venom at its former member Leah Remini for filing what it calls a ‘ludicrous’ missing person’s report over their leader’s wife Shelly Miscavige to the police – and this is coming after the latter closed the investigation because they reportedly spoke to Shelly face-to-face last night.
The reps for the church fired off a scathing statement to the media early Friday, slamming the actress for sending the police to a meaningless hunt for the ‘missing’ leader’s wife based on an allegation that police called ‘unfounded’.
‘This ill-advised, ludicrous self-promotion and the media inquiries it generated caused an inexcusable distraction for the LAPD in an era when the time and resources of its officers are stretched thin each day,’ said Scientology’s rep. ‘Creating this unnecessary burden for law enforcement was even more irresponsible given the entire episode was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Ms. Remini, cooked up with unemployed, anti-religious zealots who blog on the fringe of the Internet.’
Continuing, ‘Sadly, rather than move on with her life and career, Ms. Remini has aligned herself with a handful of untrustworthy, lunatic tabloid sources who obsessively harass the Church to advance their selfish agendas.’
We have not seen the end of this yet. Stay tuned.
