Paula Deen has won the racial discrimination lawsuit brought on her by her former employee, which exposed her private use of the N-word many years ago – and ultimately destroyed her career.
In a ruling on Monday, judge William T. Moore concluded that the complainant Lisa Jackson has no standing whatsoever to file the lawsuit because she too is white. Lisa had argued that she has a biracial person in her family – but the judge said that even if that were true, it is still not enough to claim racial discrimination.
Bottom line: The judge ruled that Lisa was an ‘accidental victim’ of any racist conduct.
There is still a pending case of sexual discrimination but it is also likely that it will be thrown out, since the person suing is a woman.
