Lindsay Lohan skipped the Venice premiere of her critically slammed movie The Canyons, saying that she did it for health reasons.
The movie’s director Paul Schrader had slammed the actress for being a no-show at the premiere on Thursday, calling her behavior ‘unspeakable’. ‘She was supposed to be here today, she said she would be, but she is not,’ he had told the press.
But Lindsay took to her blog on Saturday to clarify that she was ‘not confirmed’ to attend the premiere in the first place:
‘Along with the positive messages and words of support of “The Canyons” at VFF, I am sending my own to the cast, producers and the amazing Paul Schrader. I am so grateful for the extraordinary experience of being a part of this film. Unfortunately, I have to clear up these reports. I was never confirmed to attend. Of course, I would have enjoyed returning to that wonderful city and being a part of this amazing event, but my focus is on my health and well-being. Plain and simple, it is of the utmost importance.’
Before the event, Lindsay had written on her blog that she would not be attending the event. ‘I wish I could be there to celebrate with you in Venice. Paul Schrader, @braxtonpope, @JamesDeen could not have done it without you,’ she had posted on Wednesday.
Obviously, Schrader never saw that.
