A furious California mother punished her 11-year old daughter for twerking by forcing her to publicly hold up a sign apologizing for disobedience in a busy roadway.
According to local reports, Frances Hena of Bakersfield warned her 7th grader daughter never to twerk (defined as ‘the rhythmic gyrating of the lower fleshy extremities in a lascivious manner with the intent to elicit sexual arousal’) in a school dance, but she disobeyed her and twerked anyway. When she was told about the inappropriate behavior by a friend, she became angry and decided to punish her in a way she will never forget in a hurry.
Part of her punishment is to make her stand in a busy intersection with a sign that reads, ‘I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at my school dance.’ Also the device with which she used to assess the internet to learn the dance was taken away from her as another part of the punishment.
‘That’s ridiculous to even think that’s okay at a school dance’, Frances said. ‘I haven’t heard anything from the school still, and it’s just ridiculous to think that’s okay at a school dance’, she added, referring to the fact that the school never cared about how ‘serious’ the situation was.
As you would expect, many people at the busy intersection received the public shaming with various reactions. When asked whether she was taking the punishment too far, she replied that ‘every parenting is different’ but admitted that it was ’embarrassing’.
And as for the shamed girl, she told the reporter that she has learned the hard way and will never do it again.
