Big Brother contestant Aaryn Gries has admitted making racist comments for years, but she insists she’s not a racist … but just a person who talks like one.
Aaryn – who was the main perpetrator of the racism scandal that rocked the current season of the reality show – told TMZ that she was making those racist jokes because ‘no one had expressed that I was taken that way’ – and so she had no idea that her comments were offensive.
She also reportedly wishes someone warned her about making such comments before going into the House – where everything she says or does is watched by millions on TV and live internet feeds.
‘I am not a racist,’ she told the gossip website. ‘Sometimes you can say mindless things that will haunt you.’
She also apologized for using Texas as an excuse while being interviewed by Julie Chen after her eviction. ‘Blaming Texas was the biggest mistake I made … I was in defense mode,’ she said.
Aaryn was fired by her employees because of the racist remarks, but she was unaware of it until when a reporter broke the news to her (Watch the video).
