Cory Monteith’s mother has reacted to the angry outburst of Jack Klugman’s son over tonight’s Emmy Awards tribute snub of his legendary father, saying that he got everything wrong about the whole thing.
As we previously reported, the late Jack Klugman – most famous for his role in The Odd Couple and a 3-time Emmy winner – was snubbed in this year’s Emmys’ In Memoriam tribute, along with Dallas star Larry Hagman. Instead, producers opted to honor Cory Monteith – who hasn’t won any Emmys and died of heroin overdose this year. Adam, Klugman’s son, had slammed the decision, saying that it was ‘disrespectful’ for the producers to choose to honor some young actor who died of a ‘self-inflicted tragedy’ over a seasoned TV icon who passed away naturally at age 90.
But Ann McGregor – Cory’s mother – thinks Adam misunderstood the whole thing because he is still mourning his father who passed away last year (Translation: he is not thinking correctly). Not only that, she believes that Cory would have been like Klugman – and even greater – had he lived.
‘If he had lived 30 more years [Cory] would have accomplished much more,’ Ann told TMZ.
She also told the website that her son deserves the honor because of his ‘acting and singing abilities’ as well as his charity work … which makes us wonder whether Klugman didn’t have those abilities too.
