Jack Klugman’s son is furious with the Emmy Awards organizers for snubbing his legendary father for Cory Monteith in this year’s in memoriam tribute, calling it ‘disrespectful’and ‘criminal’.
Adam Klugman is angry that his dad – who won 3 Emmys and was known for classics as The Odd Couple – is being snubbed for actors like Cory Monteith, who by the way won no Emmys and died of a ‘self-induced’ heroin overdose. Even Dallas star Larry Hagman was snubbed.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Adam said, ‘It’s an insult and it really seems typical of this youth-centric culture that has an extremely short attention span and panders to only a very narrow demographic [of young adults].’
He added, ‘I don’t mean to say anything disparaging about Cory [Monteith], but he was a kid who had won no Emmys and it was a self-induced tragedy.’
In response to Adam’s comment, Emmys executive producer Ken Ehrlich told AP, ‘To a younger generation, Cory Monteith’s portrayal of Finn Hudson (on `Glee’) was highly admired, and the producers felt that he should be included.’
Klugman died on December 24, 2012 aged 90.
