Kym Karath – who played Gretl Von Trapp in the original Sound of Music movie – did NOT like Carrie Underwood’s live portrayal of the famous character Maria Von Trapp – originally played by Julie Andrews – on Thursday.
Karath watched the live NBC remake of the beloved 1965 movie along with fellow star Charmian Carr (Liesl Von Trapp) and tweeted her displeasure afterwards.
‘Mystified & disappointed so far by SOM special. So far only happy with Stephen Moyer,’ tweeted Karath. ‘Must admit some scenes are actually painful to watch.’
And as for Underwood, she approved of her singing but not her acting. ‘Love Carrie Underwood but this role is just not right for her. She is lovely her voice is beautiful but acting is wrong.’
But it was not all about criticism though … Karath actually loved some parts of the performance.
‘Enjoying scene with Captain, Herr Detweiler & Baroness. All excellent actors,’ she tweeted, later giving kudos to Laura Benanti’s performance.
