Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been suspended indefinitely by A&E for saying in a recent interview with GQ magazine that homosexuality is a sin.
As we earlier reported, Phil quoted 1Corinthians 6:9-10 which states that homosexuality is a sin, saying that homosexuals should not deceive themselves by believing that their sexual preference is normal.
As soon as gay rights group GLAAD slammed Phil’s comments as ‘vile’, cable network A&E released a statement condemning his action while at the same time announcing his indefinite suspension:
‘We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,’ reads A&E’s statement. ‘His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.’
