Eva Longoria has shot down an unfortunate rumor saying that she has signed a contract with Televisa to join Cuna de Lobos and two other telenovelas.
The Desperate Housewives star was quoted by Latin Times as saying in a press conference, ‘I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing project, because working in Spanish and connecting to that audience it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve already started taking Spanish lessons with a speech coach to perfect my accent and portray this role that María Rubio made immortal, and I couldn’t be any happier.’
The actress will supposedly play Catalina Creel, the villain mother of a character played by William Levy.
To spice things up, the paper cheekily added that since Eva is currently dating Televisa president Pepe Baston, ‘so it pays to be dating the president of Televisa!’
Well the original article clearly stated that the story is a joke to commemorate the Innocents’ Day … but many outlets failed to see – or simply decided to overlook – the disclaimer, and went ahead to spread the story as if it were true.
On Tuesday, Eva laid the rumor to rest.
‘How can people make stuff up and print it? Not one word of this is true! Even has fake quotes from me!’ she tweeted.
