A 14-year old girl in Chicago is currently standing trial for juvenile first-degree murder after she stabbed her 11-year old sister over 30 times for not being ‘thankful’ for all she had done for her.
According to local reports, the unnamed 14-year old had been upset because her younger sister – identified as Dora Betancourt (pic above) – was not grateful for the fact that she had cooked food for her six nights in a row, as well as doing other chores. The two had fought on Monday, with the younger one hitting her.
Then on Tuesday morning, when their mom was away, the girl went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and went to her sister’s bedroom where she proceeded to stab her repeatedly in the neck, chest, and arms … slashing her three times in the face.
‘With each stab wound, she said she was not thankful for what she (the older girl) had done,’ said Asst. State’s Attorney Claudia Kasten.
After the deed, the 14-year old called her mom and told her that a man had broken into their home and stabbed Dora. Her mom called police, who discovered strands of the older sister’s hair in the dead girl’s hands. That was when she admitted killing her.
Prosecutors are now considering whether to charge the girl as an adult or not due to the gravity of the offense.
