Last month, workers at a hospital fled in panic after a man who supposedly committed suicide woke up inside a cold morgue a day after.
24-year old Paul Mutora had ‘killed’ himself by swallowing an insecticide after an argument with his father over what looked like family issues … and was declared dead at the Naivasha hospital shortly after.
He was taken to the mortuary, where he remained for about 15 hours. His family even came and saw his body the next morning before leaving to prepare for his funeral … only for them to be informed in the afternoon that their son is alive and kicking.
‘We were all in shock,’ his father said.
The hospital’s chief doctor Joseph Mburu said that Mutora was under the influence of an Atropine-like drug contained in the insecticide, which slowed his heart rate and cause his pupils to widen … and he believes those features misled the medical staff who attended him.
Mutora has since come out of danger, and has apologized to his father.
‘This was a mistake from the start. I apologize to my father as I prepare to go and take care of my wife and child,’ he said.
