Piers Morgan’s CNN show is getting cancelled, it has been announced.
The TV personality confirmed the news himself to The New York Times, citing dismal ratings and a ‘painful period’ as the reason why his show is getting tanked.
‘Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it,’ he explained.
Morgan further said that he and CNN President Jeffrey Zucker agreed to cancel the show, and are still trying to find a new role for him in the media establishment.
On its part, CNN released a statement which says, ‘CNN confirms that “Piers Morgan Live” is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined.’
Piers Morgan Live replaced Larry King Live in 2011.
