A Canadian man who was told by his girlfriend that she was pregnant with quintuplets was shocked to tears when he was told by hospital staff that she was never pregnant – despite the big belly and other pregnancy signs she displayed.
35-year-old Paul Servat had for months revelled over the thought of being father of five … and had already prepared for their arrival by decorating a beautiful nursery with five cribs, toys and clothes. The Quebec resident was very excited when his girlfriend Barbara Bienvenue, 37, told him she was pregnant with quintuplets … and she even allowed him to choose all five names.
What irked Servat the most was the way Bienvenue broke the pregnancy news to him. First, she told him in September last year that she was pregnant with twins. Then it multiplied to triplets, later she claimed it was quadruplets and finally, quintuplets.
All physical signs pointed to a real pregnancy: She had an unusual big belly which was growing by the day and even suffered from morning sickness. But when the time for the scheduled delivery came, he took her to the hospital … only to be told that his girlfriend was never pregnant … and there was no pregnancy record whatsoever.
A nurse presented the blood test results to Servat … who couldn’t believe his eyes. Bienvenue was immediately kept by the hospital for psychiatric examination.
Understandably, Servat has made it clear that he wants nothing to do with her again.
