A construction worker who got trapped in the inferno that engulfed an uncompleted apartment complex in Houston on Tuesday made a daring escape that saved his life by the whiskers.
The worker was trapped high up in a balcony in the building’s top floor – and with the fire blazing over him, he had no option other than to leave the place. This he did by jumping off the balcony and landing on the one below him.
This move saved his life from the heat and the fiery debris that collapsed on the balcony seconds after he jumped off it.
But the danger was still there. The fire continued burning things towards his direction … and thankfully there was a firefighter crane available to pick him up. Seconds after he jumped into the crane, part of the building collapsed behind him.
Happily, no one was injured in the massive fire, which took firefighters more than 2 hours to bring under control.
