Amanda Bynes’ bizarre behavior before her forced hospitalization was not because she had schizophrenia, so says her attorney.
In a new interview with People, the 28-year old actress’ attorney Tamar Aminak said that Amanda was never diagnosed with the psychotic disorder … even though the signs she exhibited left no one in doubt at that time.
‘There has been much speculation about Amanda’s medical condition,’ Aminak told the magazine. ‘She asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it.’
In fact, Aminak says Bynes is currently ‘on zero medication,’ adding that ‘She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She’s never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she’s proud to say she’s been marijuana-free for the past nine months.’
All the same, ‘she continues to undergo outpatient therapy several times a week,’ a family source said. ‘She’s still working through the causes of her past bizarre behavior.’
Amanda Bynes is currently living with her parents and is studying at a fashion school, where she is doing ‘extremely well.’
‘Amanda is very happy studying fashion and she hopes to one day design her own line,’ her lawyer said.
