Donald Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA in the wake of his incredibly racist outbursts caught on tape getting exposed to the world last week.
In addition to the lifetime ban, Sterling was also fined $2.5 million, which will be donated to anti-discrimination and tolerance efforts.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver also said he was ‘personally outraged’ by Sterling’s racist comments, and vowed to do everything within his powers to force Sterling to sell his team.
The ban only affects Sterling and not his family, Silver said.
As ENTmania! reported, Sterling was recorded on audio tape ordering his then-girlfriend V.Stiviano not to bring any black person – including NBA legend Magic Johnson – to his Clippers games. Immediately the tape surfaced, it drew a plethora of condemnations from all corners, and even President Obama joined in the fray.
