Ryan Gosling is not having a good time at the ongoing Cannes Film festival, because he was booed by theatergoers and his directional movie debut Lost River was slammed as lame by reviewers.
Gosling, who also wrote the movie, had to endure the jeers from the movie audience and after its premiere on Tuesday, scathing reviews started pouring in.
‘If a $200 haircut and $900 shades were given lots of money to defecate on Detroit, the result would be Ryan Gosling’s directing debut,’ tweeted Grantland’s Westley Morris.
‘Hey girl, wanna see a terrible movie? Ryan Gosling’s directing debut LOST RIVER lands with a thud in
#Cannes2014,’ tweeted Variety’s Justin Chang, before writing later in his official review, ‘Had Terrence Malick and David Lynch somehow conceived an artistic love-child together, only to see it get kidnapped, strangled and repeatedly kicked in the face by Nicolas Winding Refn, the results might look and sound something like “Lost River.”‘
The movie stars Eva Mendes and Christina Hendricks, and it’s about a single mum who is caught in a dark underworld while her son finds a road to an utopia located underwater.
Who understands what the movie is talking about?
