An African elephant in a British safari park may have given the world its first ‘elfie’, after finding a dropped phone and taking a beautiful snapshot of itself with it.
23-year old visitor Scott Brierley was pleasantly surprised after he found the selfie of Latabe the Elephant on his phone after it was returned to him by the keepers at West Midlands Safari Park, near Bewdley in Worcestershire.
He told BBC that he was ordered to remain in his car after he accidentally dropped his phone while taking pics of the elephants. He said he saw Latabe walking up to the phone but thought the animal mistook it for food.
The park’s staff are reportedly ‘very proud’ of Latabe’s history-making achievement, with head-keeper Andy Plumb saying, ‘Lots of people have dropped their phones at our park but I’ve never seen anything like this.’
