Scout Willis has defended her utterly unnecessary topless protest in the streets of New York this week, stating that one of her reasons has to do with women empowerment.
As ENTmania! reported, Bruce Willis’ daughter walked the busy streets of Manhattan without her top on in ‘protest’ against Instagram’s no-nudity policy, and then posted the topless pics on Twitter for all to see.
Scout has now explained why she decided to do the half-naked protest, telling Voice (Warning: NSFW) that she became ‘incensed’ after Instagram deleted a ‘picture of a picture of breasts’ from her account, which got shut down shortly after.
That was when she brought up the empowerment-after-breast-reduction angle, saying that she had just began loving her breasts after several years of frustration over the reduction.
‘It was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. It completely changed my relationship to my body,’ she said. ‘I felt so empowered and love my breasts so much. I don’t feel like wearing a bra.’
Bearing that in mind, Scout said she suddenly decided to take her top off while strolling with her boyfriend, who took the pictures.
‘People were really blasé about [toplessness],’ she argued, referring to the fact that it had been legal for the past 22 years in New York for women to publicly go topless. ‘Some people either aren’t aware enough of the facts to know what it is I’m actually fighting for and talking about, and some people really just don’t want to take me seriously, and would rather write me off as someone who’s just attention-seeking.’
