Justin Bieber is reportedly set to make a plea deal in his Miami DUI case.
In January, Bieber was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license. The arresting cop also claimed that Bieber was reeking of alcohol and was drag racing at the time of arrest, but subsequent video and GPS records showed that he did none of those things. But toxicological results showed he had marijuana and Xanax in his system.
According to the new plea deal reached, Bieber will only need to plead guilty to reckless driving and the remaining charges will be dropped. He will only have to pay fines and attend anger management classes …. he will not be placed on probation.
His friend Khalil, who was also arrested along with Bieber, will cop the same deal, only that he won’t have to attend anger management classes.
According to TMZ, the plea deal took this long to be reached because of two reasons: First, the judge had wanted Bieber to fund and star in a public service announcement about the dangers of doing drugs, but backed down when both his lawyer and the prosecutor contended that it was inappropriate.
The second reason was that the prosecutor wanted Bieber to attend alcohol and drug education classes … but settled for anger management classes when the singer’s team convinced the judge that letting him attend such classes means admission that he has drug issues … which he doesn’t have.
The deal will be entered in court in a fortnight from today.
