Aaliyah’ family is pissed that a biopic on their late daughter is being produced without their blessing … and they have vowed to disrupt production.
A Lifetime movie chronicling the life and times of the late Rn B singer has been scheduled to begin filming this summer, and 17-year old Disney actress Zendaya has been cast as Aaliyah.
But Aaliyah’s family – who says it is not opposed to making a film about their daughter – is angry because no one from the Lifetime network bothered to contact the family about the proposed movie.
Because of it, says Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson, the family will block any attempt by Lifetime to use her music in the movie, and will also do everything possible to make sure the movie never sees the light of the day.
Aaliyah died in 2001 in a plane crash at age 22.
Lifetime has been contacted for comment.
