Lupita Nyong’o says walking the red carpet and having to deal with all the cameras flashing and media frenzy feels like being in a ‘war zone’.
In fact, the 21 Years a Slave actress believes the media ‘war zone’ is worse that an actual one, because you can’t physically fight to defend yourself in the former unlike in the latter.
‘The red carpet feels like a war zone, except you cannot fly or fight; you just have to stand there and take it,’ she tells Vogue in a new interview.
Nyong’o is not the first person to compare celebrity life to war: Tom Cruise once said that acting is as hard as fighting in Afghanistan, while Gwyneth Paltrow complained that acting and dealing with online negative comments is like being in a real war.
Both stars got intense backlash for their comments, and Nyong’o clearly knows that.
‘I hope they don’t make that the big quote! Because that would be sad! Tell them not to do that!’ she pleads.
Well lets see.
