A 9-year old boy and his 4-year old brother recently stole a car from a parking lot and took it for a joyride before they got stopped by a hero teenage driver.
According to the little boys, they spotted the Pontiac Grand Prix on the parking spot while riding their bicycles on their way to see their grandmother. They told cops that the door was open, with the key in the ignition.
They then threw their bikes into the backseat of the car before starting the engine and driving off.
18-year-old Kaiden Duck happened to spot the speeding car, and at first he thought it was a drunk driver. The speed limit was 35 miles per hour, and they were doing at least 70 miles per hour,’ he recalled.
But when he realized that it was a little kid who was behind the wheel, he realized it was another case of car jacking by minors. ‘I had to get around them at 85 miles per hour,’ he said.
Then, with the help of a friend who was driving another car, he managed to forcefully stop the kids before the State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Officers arrived at the scene. Before then, the kids had driven more than 5 miles.
‘He was using his blinkers, he was using gas and brakes. I was shocked!’ said Duck’s friend Andy Gonring.
The kids were returned to their parents, while the car was returned to its owner. No charges were filed.
