Katy Perry is being sued by a Christian gospel rapper for allegedly stealing his 2008 song Joyful Noise to create her 2013 hit Dark Horse.
This week, rapper Flame and his producers filed court documents against Perry in Michigan, accusing her of ‘tarnishing’ his Grammy-nominated song with ‘witchcraft’.
‘By any measure, the devoutly religious message of “Joyful Noise” has been irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in “Dark Horse”‘, the lawsuit states, referring to the widespread use of witchcraft-associated symbols in the Dark Horse music video.
FYI: A petition was set up calling for the removal of Dark Horse music video from television due to its offensive religious content … and it gained more than 60,000 signatures.
When you listen to both songs, you’ll notice that the beat is the same, only that it is slower in Perry’s.
