Rihanna has claimed ignorance of the fact that she tweeted ‘#FreePalestine’ to her followers on Tuesday.
The singer deleted the tweet after 8 minutes … and she’s now claiming that she never even realized she tweeted the message until she was alerted by her fans.
Rihanna’s rep told TMZ that she was reading about the Israel-Palestine conflict online when she clicked a link. Soon after, she started getting alerts from fans that she wrote ‘#FreePalestine’ on Twitter.
‘She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted. She didn’t even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans,’ the rep told the website.
Her rep also added that she is not siding with anyone in the conflict, but just wants peace to reign.
Now this explanation is obviously difficult to accept as true, considering that sending out tweets is a manual thing that requires one to click a button. Maybe she was trying to avoid the heat suffered by NBA star Dwight Howard, who was forced to apologize after tweeting the same message on Saturday.
