Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday photobombed a Commonwealth athlete’s selfie as she attended the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The selfie, which shows Australian field hockey player Jayde Taylor and teammate Brooke Peris with the smiling queen in the background, went viral as soon as it was posted on Twitter by Taylor.
‘Ahhh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!’ tweeted Taylor, who later told ABC News that she and her mate planned to set up the shot.
‘Brooke and I planned it so that when she came out the door she would be behind us,’ she said. ‘And then she came out and smiled at the camera! We were in the right spot at the right time.’
Taylor also had the opportunity to meet the queen, who greeted the athletes at the games.
‘She asked us a bit about the pitch, how we were going and told us to enjoy our time here,’ said Taylor. ‘She was lovely. Really, really lovely.’
