Adrienne Bailon has hit back at Kim Kardashian West after the latter slammed her for dissing her family in a recent magazine interview.
The Real co-host – who dated Rob Kardashian 5 years ago – had told Latina magazine that her association with the Kardashians and their reality show tainted her image and career, saying, ‘To be stuck with that Kardashian label, that was so hurtful to me and to my career. I probably realized that too late — not that it would’ve affected my decisions in terms of who I dated, but it would’ve affected my decision to appear on the show.’
On Thursday, Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to trash Bailon for her comments, writing, ‘Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian. #LetItGoooooLetItGoooooo(FROZEN VOICE). So sad when people try to kick my brother when he is down #FamilyForever.’
So in response, Bailon posted a message on Instagram which began with her trying to educate Kim on the difference between ‘fame’ and ‘career’ … and her claiming that she had a successful career before dating Rob.
‘Fame and a Career are two different things,’ the former Cheetah Girl wrote. ‘I’ve always had a career. I have been working hard since I was 15 years old. Being someone’s ‘girlfriend’ was never what I wanted to be famous for.’
Then Bailon brought Kim’ albatross – her infamous sex tape – into the picture, even though she did not specifically mention it in the message. But every discerning mind will understand exactly what she was referring to in these two sentences:
What makes you ‘famous’ isn’t always what you want to be ‘labeled’ as, or known for. If anyone should understand that … It should be you.
In conclusion, Bailon said, ‘I also stated in the article that none of this would have stopped me from being in love and being in that relationship. I just would have gone about it differently. You can love someone just as much in private. We all learn from our first loves.’
