Kanye West – whose hatred for the paparazzi is so strong that he cannot even hide it from himself – now claims that he cannot hate the paparazzi because his father was one of them.
During the deposition for the battery suit filed against him by photog Daniel Ramos, West reportedly told the attorneys, ‘My father was a paparazzo himself.’ He also added that his parents did not raise him to ‘be out here wrestling with random paparazzi in front of LAX.’
He also claims to have paparazzi friends.
‘Sometimes I get in the car with paparazzi. Paparazzi help me to park,’ he told Ramos’ lawyer. ‘The paparazzi watch my car and makes sure that cops don’t give me tickets. There are some nice guys out here trying to just feed their family.’
This is in sharp contrast to what he said in earlier depositions for the same case – he had said he hated paparazzi more than the Nazis and even dedicated one of his songs to blasting the profession. He had also equated his struggle with the paparazzi to the black struggle in the ’60s.
Meanwhile, Kanye’s dad Ray West was actually a photojournalist – not a real paparazzo.
