Ray Rice has been cut from the Baltimore Ravens and also suspended indefinitely by the NFL after a shocking video of him knocking out his then fianceê in a casino elevator showed up online on Monday.
TMZ posted the security cam footage of the February incident (Warning: Violent!) on its page, and it shows Rice getting into an argument with Janay Palmer, before punching her. Then Palmer fought back – and that was when he delivered a devastating punch to her face, knocking her out cold instantly.
Shockingly, the NFL suspended the running back for just two games … but now the football body is claiming that it never saw the footage before giving Rice such a light punishment. Even more weird is the fact that Rice and Palmer went ahead to get married a month later.
Following the uproar the newly leaked video generated, The Ravens quickly announced that they have terminated Rice’s $50 million contract.
‘The #Ravens have terminated RB Ray Rice’s contract this afternoon,’ the team’s management tweeted on Monday.
Moments later, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that Rice has been suspended indefinitely from the league.
‘Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice,’ a spokesperson for the NFL said in a statement.
