The clinic that allegedly performed a vocal cord biopsy on Joan Rivers – which trigger a chain of reactions that ultimately ended her life – now claims no such thing happened because they NEVER perform any biopsy.
In a new statement released to CNN on Thursday, Yorkville Endoscopy dismissed a New York Daily News story that claimed that Rivers’ personal doctor used the clinic’s resources to perform the risky procedure, saying that ‘a biopsy of the vocal cords has never been performed at Yorkville Endoscopy.’
Also reacting to the rumors that Rivers was sedated with general anesthesia (which allegedly caused her heart to stop beating during the procedure), the clinic stated, ‘General anesthesia has never been administered at Yorkville Endoscopy. The type of sedation used at Yorkville Endoscopy is monitored anesthesia care. Our anesthesiologists utilize light to moderate sedation.’
‘Our anesthesiologists monitor the patient continuously utilizing state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, and remain at the bedside throughout the procedure and into recovery,’ the statement continued.
The statement ended with, ‘Yorkville Endoscopy has all necessary airway equipment, including a fiber optic scope available for emergency intubation. Three to four board certified anesthesiologists are on duty at Yorkville Endoscopy at any given time.’
