Kanye West ordered everyone in his Friday concert in Melbourne, Australia to stand up in order for him to perform a song … and he actually stopped rapping when he saw that one of the audience members was sitting down.
Before starting to perform his song Good Life, West asked everyone to stand up because he could not perform the song without them doing so. ‘I can’t do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s**t,’ he said.
One person waved a prosthetic leg in the crowd and Kanye permitted him to sit … but midway in the song he stopped after spotting another person sitting down.
Via Australia’s Daily Mail:
But when another fan remained seated, he stopped the song Good Life, saying, ‘This is the longest I’ve had to wait to do a song, it’s unbelievable,’ before sending bodyguard Pascal Duvier into the arena to check whether the person was in fact in a wheelchair- which they were.
‘The crowd was also yelling that he was in a wheelchair but he waited for Pascal’s confirmation,’ the witness said, while others said the crowd made ‘wheelchair motions’ to alert the singer to his mistake.
West later resumed his performance after receiving his bodyguard’s handicap confirmation, telling the guy that his sitting down is ‘fine’.
Video of the incident has surfaced, and you can hear the crowd loudly booing the fan on a wheelchair.
