Veteran actress Polly Bergen – who played Stella Wingfield on Desperate Housewives – has died. She was 84.
According to her rep, Bergen passed away in her home in Connecticut from natural causes on Saturday morning. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by her family and longtime manager.
Polly Bergen’s acting career began in the ’50s and has starred in a slew of classic movies and TV series including The Sopranos, Cry Baby, Cape Fear and Kisses for My President. She won an Emmy award in 1958 for her role in Playhouse 90.
Aside from acting, she was also an established singer and entrepreneur. She also had her own variety series and was a popular game show panelist.
Bergen is survived by three children Peter Fields, Kathy Lander and Pamela Fields and three grandchildren.
