A 26-year old Russian man recently hanged himself to death live on Skype, while his viewers urged him on and did not even try to stop him.
According to local reports, Sergey Kirilov of Moscow had advertised his suicide event on a social network, asking anyone who wanted to see it to log in to Skype and link to him.
According to Moscow police, people who hooked up with Kirilov on Skype didn’t even bother to try to discourage him from killing himself. Instead, they encouraged him, with many even saying that only a ‘real man’ can kill himself quickly.
Of all the online witnesses, only one person tried to stop the suicide from happening but to no avail.
Now the police is tracking the IPs of those people who witnessed the suicide and refused to do anything to stop it. Said spokesman Leonti Zubarev, ‘It is beyond belief that people could watch this as a form of entertainment. We will be investigating everyone who watched this incident, especially those who urged him to carry it out who may be guilty of negligent homicide.’
