A 4chan user has vowed to leak the nude photos of Emma Watson shortly after the actress delivered a feminist speech at the United Nations headquarters in New York.On Saturday, Watson delivered a speech about a new UN initiative called the HeForShe, a campaign seeking to get men to join the fight for gender equality. In the speech, the Harry Potter actress extended a ‘formal invitation’ to the men to join the cause, saying that ‘gender equality is your issue too.’
‘I want men to take up this mantle. So their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too—reclaim those parts of themselves they abandoned and in doing so be a more true and complete version of themselves,’ said Watson.
Well this speech did not sit well with one dude over at 4chan – the website where the first hacked nude pics of scores of celebrities were leaked – who immediately started a new website called emmayouarenext.com, which contains a countdown clock set at approximately four days. This means that if the threat is real, the world will have a glimpse of the nude photos of Watson on either Friday or Saturday
The thread where the threat was posted on 4chan has since been removed, but the countdown website is still up and ticking away.
So we wait to see if the anonymous hacker will indeed carry out his threats.
The countdown has now been replaced by a site called Rantic.com – a fake company offering fake social media marketing services. It is now trying to make ‘#shutdown4chan’ a trend, and features an open letter to President Obama supposedly written on behalf of ‘celebrity publicists’, asking him to censor the internet and help shut down 4chan.
In otherwords, this is an example of a hoax started by a group of pranksters who want to cash in on a trending topic to dupe people. Besides, Watson’s name did not appear on the ‘master list’ of hacked celebs, which means that the hackers are not in possession of her not-sure-they-exist nude photos.
