A giant butt plug which was erected in the centre of Paris by an American artist has been taken down by vandals.
The bizarre structure named ‘Tree’ had been erected two days ago on the famous Place Vendome by Paul McCarthy as part of an annual art exhibition called FIAC … pissing off city residents, who called the sculpture an insult and an eyesore.
In fact, during the giant butt plug’s grand unveiling on Thursday, Le Monde newspaper reported that one man’s reaction was to slap McCarthy thrice in the face and yell that ‘he was not French and that his work had no business in the square,’ before running away.
So it was not surprising that on Saturday morning, vandals cut the ropes holding the 24-foot eyesore in position, causing it to tumble. Authorities had no choice but to deflate it.

The butt plug had been scheduled to be removed in November … but apparently residents couldn’t wait that long.
Police are investigating, and authorities intend to reinstate the butt plug as soon as possible.
