Lea DeLaria tried to shout down a Christian preacher who was teaching the Word on the subway train on Tuesday morning, telling the guy to shut up ‘cos he doesn’t have the right to preach on a train.
DeLaria, who plays ‘Big Boo’ in Orange is the New Black, became angry as the preacher kept on talking about Jesus and the Word … and then stood up to confront him.
‘You have no right! You have no right!’ the actress shouted. ‘Get off this train! Other people believe other things, and have every right to believe other things on this planet and in this world. We do not have to be force-fed this man’s religious beliefs. Jesus never said for you to do this! Not anywhere in the Bible!’
‘Show me anywhere in the Bible, where Jesus said it’s OK for you to do this. You show me where Jesus told you to do this,’ demanded DeLaria, who then went on to claim, ‘Don’t come at me, because I went to f*cking Catholic school for 12 years, and I know every line.’
If she really does ‘know every line’ of the Bible, then she should have seen (and even memorized) this popular verse where Jesus himself said, ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’ (Matthew 28:19-20).
Anyway, the preacher largely ignored her and instead began preaching about Sodom and Gomorrah and ‘the sin of homosexuality’. At that point, DeLaria – who is openly gay, btw – throws her hands up and starts shouting.
