The Osbournes is returning to TV, it has been announced.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Sharon Osbourne on The Talk, who said the show will not be a regular reality show like Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
‘It’s not as much coming back as a proper series as [much as] an update,’ she said. ‘At most, there will be six to eight episodes, and it’s a catch-up on our lives and where we are now, because it’s been so long since we’ve been seen as a family, and our family has grown.’
Sharon also said that the idea of reviving the show was her husband Ozzy’s. ‘It was all my husband’s doing. He looked back on his life, and he said, ‘I wish we could have done “The Osbournes’ now when I’m clean and sober.”’ He also will be going on his last tour with Black Sabbath, and wants the show to cover at least some of it.
The original The Osbournes featuring Sharon, Ozzy and children Kelly and Jack aired from 2002 to 2005 – and it was a success, winning an Emmy in 2002.
The new episodes of the show will begin filming next year and will not be aired on MTV, which broadcast the original seasons.
